Eugene G. Unangst II

BLOSSBURG, Pa. - Eugene G. Unangst II, 45, died Saturday at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro.

He was employed by Southern Tioga School District at North Penn High School, Blossburg, as a physical education teacher and athletic director for the past 23 years. He was also a former football and wrestling coach.

He was a proprietor of Unangst Sporting Goods in Blossburg.

Born in Easton on Feb. 24, 1947, he was a son of Velma Moser and the late Eugene G. Unangst.

He was a 1965 graduate of Wilson High School and a 1969 graduate of Slippery Rock University.

He was a member of the Sigma Pi Fraternity.

He was a member of the Southern Tioga Education Association, where he was currently treasurer, and a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and National Education Association.

He was the current president of the Blossburg Borough Recreation Board and president of the Hillside Rod & Gun Club in Blossburg. He was also a member of the Laurel Health Service Board of Directors, the Blossburg Kiwanis, Arnot Sportman's Club, Hamilton Club and Morris Run and the Wheel Inn, Inc. Roaring Branch.

in addition to his mother, he survived by a son, James of Blossburg; two sisters, Elizabeth Straukas and Gail Patterson, both of Easton; several nieces; and a friend, Mary Elizabeth Retorick of Morris Run.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the North Penn High School Gymnasium. Interment will be in the Arbon Cemetery in Blossburg. The Adams-Morse and Kleese Funeral Home in Blossburg is in charge of arrangements.
