Robert D. Newhard, 61, of Lower Nazareth Township, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, July 4, 2009, in the VNA Hospice of St. Luke's, Lower Saucon Township.
Born: In Easton on January 4, 1948, he was a son of Mildred M. Nicholas Newhard of Upper Nazareth Township, and the late Roy D. Newhard.
Personal: Robert was the husband of Virginia A. Snyder Newhard with whom he celebrated 40 years of marriage this past June 14th.
He was a graduate of Wilson High School class of 1965. Robert worked as a maintenance engineer at the Chrin Landfill since 1993. Previously, he worked as a certified water well driller for Yeska & Son for 20 years.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Most importantly, he loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
Memberships: Robert was a member of the National Well Drillers Association and the Pennsylvania Water Well Association. He was a member of the East Bath Rod & Gun Club, as well as a member of the Suburban Trap League. Robert was active in Boy Scouts and was associated with Troop #33 of Bath for 20 years. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hecktown.
Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Virginia and his mother, Mildred; son, David A. Newhard and his wife Valerie of Whitehall; daughter, Cathy and her husband Paul of Bath; three brothers, Dennis Newhard and his wife Sandra of Belfast, twin brothers,
William Newhard and his wife Darlene of Lower Nazareth Township and Richard Newhard and his wife Amy of Upper Nazareth Township: two grandchildren Katie and Keith Dube; nieces and nephews and a great niece.
Services: A memorial service in celebration Robert’s life will be held on Friday July 10, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church 323Nazareth Pike, Nazareth (Hecktown). Friends and relatives are invited to call on Thursday, July 8, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the George G. Bensing Funeral Home, Inc., 2165 Community Drive, Route 946, Village of Moorestown - Bath, PA 18014. Interment will be private.
Memorials: May be made in memory of Robert to the Wild Lands Conservancy, 3701Orchid Place, Emmaus, PA 18049.
