John A. Killar Sr.,
midget sports coach

John A. Killar Sr., 54, of 2504 Alpine Drive, Hellertown, died Sunday, April 22, in Easton Hospital.

He worked at Hoffman LaRoche Fine Chemicals and Vitamins for 28 years until 2000.

Born Aug. 23, 1946, in Easton, he was a son of the late Felix M. and Mary Chavar Killar.

He was a member of Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church in Hellertown.

He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of the Saucon Valley Youth Sports Association, where he coached 85-pound midget football and was an assistant in midget wrestling for several years. He was a member of the Saucon Valley Booster Club.

He and his wife, the former Barbara A. Bertolino, observed their 31st wedding anniversary Jan. 24.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, John A. Jr. of Collegeville, Pa., and Michael. J. and Joseph R., both at home; a brother, Felix M. Jr. of Monrovia, Md.; and three sisters, Patricia Brink of Rome, Pa., Mary Jean Capobianco of Riegelsville, Pa., and Barbara Longley of Klecknersville, Pa.

Services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, 326 Main St., Hellertown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the church, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown. Call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery of Hellertown.
